Superb-View Time on Irabu Island Spent at an Infinity-Pool Villa

I'm floating in the pool. Before me, the sea. Blue, truly blue. So this is what Miyako blue means.

Resting my elbows on the edge of the infinity pool, gazing at the sea. The pool's water surface and the sea's water surface look as if they're connected. There's no boundary line. You lose track of where the pool ends and where the sea begins.

D's GROW RESORT Infinity Pool Villa Toguchinohama. A villa of just 3 units, built on the south coast of Irabu Island. Since opening in 2019, it's a place with no end of reviews saying "once you stay you can't forget it."

I learned of it from a friend's Instagram. A photo floating in the pool, with the caption "10 seconds to the sea." When I asked "huh, what do you mean?" the reply came: "you'll understand if you stay."

And now, I'm experiencing the meaning of that "10 seconds." 2 seconds from the bed to the pool, 10 seconds from the pool to the sea. This sense of distance is everything about D's GROW RESORT.

5 minutes on foot to Toguchi-no-Hama. A beach said to be Irabu Island's most beautiful. But honestly, the view from the room's pool alone is already satisfying. The Miyako blue seen through full-glass windows. A modern space of exposed concrete. And the infinity pool.

With only 3 villas, the sense of privacy is insane. You can't hear the next room's voices. The feeling of having the sea all to yourself. There's no other luxury like this.

The 82-m² 2LDK is a size that sleeps up to 6. A kitchen is fully equipped too, so you can spend it however you like. Get up in the morning, jump into the pool, drink coffee while gazing at the sea. At night BBQ and look up at the stars. You don't have to mind the time.

In this blog, I'll write honestly about all of D's GROW RESORT's appeal. The special feel of just 3 villas, the superb view from the infinity pool, access to Toguchi-no-Hama, and the points to note of the self-catering style too.

"By far the top satisfaction," "I want to revisit right now," "it was exactly right." I understood the reason for the stream of repeat guests once I stayed. It's not that there's perfect luxury. But this view and this sense of privacy are only here.

People who want to "have the sea to themselves" on Irabu Island, people who want to stay near Toguchi-no-Hama, people who long for an infinity pool. D's GROW RESORT will surely exceed your expectations.

Basic Information on D's GROW RESORT | The Luxury of Just 3 Villas

D's GROW RESORT Infinity Pool Villa Toguchinohama is an ultra-small-scale resort that opened in spring 2019. "Ultra-small-scale" isn't even enough of a word. Just 3 rooms in all. Just 3 villas.

The location is the south coast of Irabu Island. Right near Toguchi-no-Hama. Just under 30 minutes by car from Miyako Airport, and even closer from Miyako Shimojishima Airport.

1213-1 Irabu, Irabu, Miyakojima City, Okinawa 906-0503
TEL: 0980745573
Check-in time: 15:00
Check-out time: 11:00

The 3 villas stand in a row along the road. In front is a two-lane road, but there isn't much traffic. With a normal-sized car, parking is no problem. Each room has a dedicated car park.

Check-in is in the room. This is quietly convenient. No need to carry luggage to a front desk. A concierge is present from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If anything troubles you, they respond right away.

For consecutive nights, cleaning is once every 3 days. Towel changes and rubbish collection are handled if you put them outside the room. The lack of daily room cleaning is proof of the privacy focus. You're disturbed by no one.

Each villa is an 82.31-m² 2LDK. You can stay from 1 to 6 people. The beds are 140 cm wide × 195 cm long × 20 cm high, two each in two rooms. No problem with sleeping comfort.

The building is exposed-concrete finish. Modern and simple. There was a review saying "it's not that there's special luxury," but I actually like this simplicity. The building doesn't assert itself too much. The scenery is the lead.

This is an area with a 20% building-coverage-ratio limit under the Natural Parks Act. So it's single-storey, a 3-unit terraced type. Consideration not to spoil the scenery. As a result, a sense of unity with the sea in front was born.

The rate is by no means cheap. But there are many reviews saying "considering the total, it's appropriate." The special feel of only 3 villas, this view, this sense of privacy. It has value matching the price.

It's at a level where someone who's visited Miyako Island for over 10 years says "it was exactly right." There's a reason it gets chosen even compared with Tokyu and Allamanda.

The Superb View Beyond the Infinity Pool | A Location 10 Seconds to the Sea

D's GROW RESORT's biggest appeal is this infinity pool. Each room has a dedicated one. "There are 3 outdoor pools" is an accurate expression but a bit misleading. Precisely, "each of the 3 villas has one dedicated infinity pool."

The moment I entered the pool, I understood. The meaning of "infinity."

The pool edge looks the same height as the sea. Nothing blocks the way to the horizon. The pool's water surface and the sea's water surface look connected. "Becoming one with the sea" — this is what it means.

Seen from inside the room, the view is overwhelming too. Full-glass windows. The living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom are in one space. Wherever you are, you can see the sea.

There was a review saying "the view from the window is overwhelming. So lovely I can't put it into words," and it's truly so. It's many times more beautiful in person than in photos.

2 seconds from the bed to the pool. Get up in the morning and jump straight into the pool. 10 seconds from the pool to the sea. There's a small path going directly from the pool to the sea. The middle room has a path cut through the grass, from which you can get out to the beach.

The beach is a bit rocky. Rather than swimming, it's a feeling of playing in the garden. But this ease of access is the best. Play in the pool, go to the sea, come back to the pool again. Coming and going freely.

The rooms on either side are connected on the pool side. There's a low partition, but they're not completely independent. But according to reviews, "the people next door didn't come into the room's grounds." Since the pool is in full view, everyone keeps their distance by tacit understanding.

In fact, staying 3 days, I saw the people in the next room only once. And that was far away. I couldn't hear voices either. Almost a private-beach state.

Relaxing in the infinity pool

The pool water temperature depends on the outside temperature. In midsummer it's no problem, but a reviewer who stayed in March said "it was cold from the strong wind and I couldn't get in." But it continues "the view and the room were superb to the point of nothing to say." Even if you can't get in the pool, satisfaction is high. That's how good the view is.

At dusk, I saw the sunset poolside. The sky shifting from vermilion to purple. The light reflected in the sea. For this moment, it was worth coming here.

At night, the starry sky. A sky full of stars. I saw shooting stars too. Floating in the pool, looking up at the stars. So luxurious I even feel a sense of guilt.

To Toguchi-no-Hama it's a 5-minute walk via the pool. At low tide you can walk across the sea to Toguchi-no-Hama. Even at high tide, walking along the road is no problem. "The villa closest to Toguchi-no-Hama" — no mistake about it.

Free Time Spent at the Spacious 82-m² Villa | A Holiday-Home Style with a Full Kitchen

82.31 m² didn't click for me told as a number. But actually entering the room, I honestly thought "spacious." Even staying as 6 people, it doesn't feel cramped.

The living room, dining room, kitchen and master bedroom in one big space. With no partitions, the sense of openness is amazing. Natural light coming in from the full-glass windows. The luxury of spending it while seeing the sea.

The other bedroom is independent, a little apart. Privacy is secured. Even staying as a family or group, there's space for each.

The kitchen is proper. Rice cooker, microwave, fridge, stove. Cooking utensils and tableware are in place too. Basic seasonings are prepared too.

Open the fridge and welcome drinks are packed in. Beer, juice, tea, water. There's ice too. Free. This is truly welcome. After playing in the pool, you can drink a chilled beer right away.

There's a washer-dryer too. A review said "it dries quickly," and it really is quick. No problem washing every day. Suited to a long stay.

The amenities are sufficient too. Three days' worth of towels. You can request more if they run low. It's no wonder there are many reviews saying "I could spend it comfortably with nothing inconvenient."

D's GROW RESORT has no restaurant. No meal service either. Completely self-catering style. At first I thought "isn't it inconvenient?" But this is this villa's concept.

There's "Shimoji Supermarket" nearby, but apparently the kinds of meat are few. Go out to Miyako Island and there's a big supermarket. Many people buy Miyako beef at Fuji Frozen Foods. Being frozen, you can buy in bulk, which is convenient.

A BBQ set can be rented for a fee. Plenty of charcoal and firelighter too. Even people who "haven't done much BBQ" could do it without problem. We BBQ'd on the last day too.

Miyako beef and island vegetables. Prawns and scallops. Prepare sashimi too. There was a review saying "it became a very luxurious, good BBQ," and I understand that feeling. A BBQ while seeing the sunset. The best luxury.

There are a few eateries nearby too. A cafe called Blue Turtle about a 3-minute walk away. The smoothies are delicious. Lunch is a bit pricey, though.

Irabu Soba Kame, Nakayukui Shouten. About 5 minutes by car. Reviews say they have a local atmosphere and are good. There are apparently Italian and sushi places too.

Go back to Miyako Island and the options increase. It costs taxi fare to go to an izakaya, but many people write it's "within an acceptable range."

On the first night we got takeaway from a nearby shop. The second night, BBQ. The third night, takeaway again. You manage even without self-catering everything. The freedom is high.

Breakfast was simple in the room. Cook rice in the rice cooker, fry eggs, yesterday's leftovers. Breakfast eaten poolside. This is many times better than a hotel breakfast buffet.

With freedom over meals, you can wake up when you like and eat when you like. Not bound by time. This is the appeal of the holiday-home style.

5 Minutes on Foot to Toguchi-no-Hama | Irabu Island's Most Beautiful Beach

Toguchi-no-Hama. Irabu Island's most beautiful — no, some say Okinawa's most beautiful beach. White sand, blue sea, green jungle. A beautiful crescent-shaped bay.

5 minutes on foot from D's GROW RESORT. Walk along the coast or along the road, you arrive right away. At low tide you can walk across the sea. This is unbelievably close.

"The villa closest to Toguchi-no-Hama." This is no exaggeration. Compared with other villas and hotels too, the access is overwhelmingly good.

In the morning, to Toguchi-no-Hama for a stroll. A time band with few people. Quiet and calm. Only the sound of the waves is audible. Walking the sand barefoot. The feel of the sand transmitted to the soles of your feet.

The colour of the sea is truly beautiful. Miyako blue. The transparency is high, and you can see to the bottom. Fish are swimming too. Just gazing, time passes.

At one end of the beach, Blue Turtle cafe. The smoothies are delicious. At the other end, a watersports shop. You can rent kayaks and jet skis too.

Swimming is good too. Being a shallow flat, it's safe even for children. The waves are calm too. You can enjoy snorkelling too. In the transparent sea, colourful fish are swimming.

In the afternoon we snorkelled at Toguchi-no-Hama. We drifted in the sea for about an hour. After coming out, straight to the room's pool. Rinse off the seawater and relax in the pool. This flow is perfect.

Spending time at Toguchi-no-Hama

In the evening, to Toguchi-no-Hama again. Sunset time. Sit on the sand and watch the setting sun. The sky and sea dyed orange. You understand why it's called "Okinawa's most beautiful beach."

At night, stargazing at the room's pool. Toguchi-no-Hama is dark at night. With few streetlights, the stars are clearly visible. The starry sky looked up at while floating in the pool. I saw a shooting star. I'd forgotten my wish.

Toguchi-no-Hama's appeal is that nature remains as-is. It's not over-touristified. There's beach-parasol rental and the like, but no excessive commercialisation. Quiet, calm and beautiful.

The biggest merit of staying at D's GROW RESORT is this access to Toguchi-no-Hama. Stroll on getting up in the morning, snorkel from the afternoon, sunset in the evening. A distance you can go any number of times.

The room's pool is the best, but Toguchi-no-Hama is the best too. The luxury of enjoying both. This is D's GROW RESORT's true worth.

Who D's GROW RESORT Suits and Who It Doesn't

D's GROW RESORT was a truly wonderful villa. But it doesn't suit everyone. Being an ultra-small-scale resort of only 3 villas, people it suits and doesn't suit are clearly divided.

First, people it suits. The biggest is "people who want to have a superb view to themselves." This view, this sense of privacy. You can't taste it elsewhere. With only 3 villas, it's almost a private-beach state. The feeling of having the sea to yourself.

It's perfect for "people who long for an infinity pool" too. That sensation of the pool and sea looking connected. Experience it once and you can't forget. The happiness of being able to jump into the pool right after waking.

"People looking for lodging near Toguchi-no-Hama." 5 minutes on foot — there's no lodging closer than this. You can fully enjoy Toguchi-no-Hama from morning to night.

"People who like the self-catering style." With a substantial kitchen, it's fun for cooking lovers. You can rent a BBQ set too. The freedom of dining at your own pace.

"People who want to stay as a family or group." The 82-m² size, sleeping up to 6. With 4 beds, it's ideal for families and groups. With a pool, children are overjoyed too.

"People who want a long stay." With a washer-dryer, no problem staying long. With cleaning once every 3 days, privacy is protected too. I don't know if there are consecutive-night discounts, but it's a place that makes you want to stay long.

"Repeat Miyako Island fans." It's at a level where someone who's visited Miyako Island for over 10 years says "exactly right." There's a goodness only people who've come many times can understand.

Conversely, there are people it doesn't suit. First, "people who want a hotel with meals." There's no restaurant or breakfast. You need to manage meals yourself. It's inconvenient for people who "want everything prepared."

"People without a car." This is fatal. Both shopping and eating out are tough without a car. There's no convenience store nearby either. A rental car is essential.

"People who demand perfect luxury." The building is modern and stylish, but a review also said "it's not that there's special luxury." There's no opulence like Shigira Resort. Simple and functional.

"People who want daily room cleaning." Cleaning is once every 3 days. You need to put towels out yourself for a change. It's lacking for people who want daily bed-making.

"People who want to definitely get in the pool in winter." The pool isn't heated. It depends on the outside temperature. Some people couldn't get in due to the cold from March's strong wind. In winter, enjoying the view is the main thing.

"People who want to make touring sightseeing spots the main thing." The villa is so comfortable you don't want to leave. There are many reviews saying "3 nights flew by and I didn't want to go home." More time gets spent relaxing in the room than sightseeing.

"People who want to keep costs down." The rate is by no means cheap. But there are many reviews saying "appropriate price." Considering this view and sense of privacy, it's a price you can accept. But it doesn't suit people looking for budget lodging.

In our case, the superb view and sense of privacy were perfect. We could enjoy self-catering too, and access to Toguchi-no-Hama was the best. "I want to revisit right now" — I truly feel that.

I understand the feeling of people who write "by far the top satisfaction" in reviews. There may not be perfect luxury. But this view, this location, this special feel of just 3 villas. That alone is more than enough value.
